The proposed Hapuakohe Wind Farm site sits northeast of Huntly amongst pastoral farmland. If built, the project estimates the wind farm could generate 790 GWh, enough electricity to power more than 105,000 average kiwi households.

Scope of work

The Work

We were subcontracted by Davidson-Watts Ecology to lead advanced radio-tracking surveys of long tailed bats for the ecological impact assessment.
Working with staff from Boffa Miskell and Kaitiaki from Tainui, we oversaw the capture and tracking of bats at the prposed project site to determine roosting locations and habitat use assessment for bats caught at and adjacent to the windfarm location for both pre- and post-parturition phases.
We are also looking to provide advice around potential offsetting and compensation measures.
